Hardware
The SOLJET PRO III XC-540 is the ultimate high-volume production tool for stunning indoor and outdoor banners, signs, vehicles, decals, POP displays and more. Numerous upgrades make this the industry’s most advanced printer/cutter including an impressive maximum print speed of 41 sq mt./hr. Engineered to support high-volume environments, the XC-540 delivers vibrant 6 color CMYKLcLm images, features a tri-heating system and advanced media feed and automatic take-up system, and can be upgraded with an optional dryer/blower. The XC-540 can also be configured as a 5-color model equipped with White ECO-SOL MAX ink, creating bold white graphics for packaging comps, window graphics, POP, labels, decals and more. Print/Cut Advantage TheXC-540 streamlines the production process by automatically contour cutting printed graphics. By eliminating the need to reload and reposition graphics, the XC-540's integrated cutter save time and effort. Quality
* Print speeds vary depending on the media and print mode selected. Quadralign For laminating graphics, simply remove prints, laminate and reload them for precision cutting. The Quadralign four-point optical registration system automatically realigns the cutting path and compensates for skew and distortion. The XC-540 can also function as a stand-alone vinyl cutter. ECO-SOL Max Inks
For the standard six-color configuration, ECO-SOL MAX comes in CMYKLcLm ink sets (220ml or 440ml cartridges). White ECO-SOL MAX is also available in 220ml cartridges for XC-540s equipped with the White Ink Option (CMYK+W). ECO-SOL MAX graphics are water and UV resistant up to 3 years outdoors*. The XC-540 was designed with high-volume production in mind and comes standard with a protective removable tray for Roland’s 440ml ECO-SOL MAX cartridges. The XC-540 and VersaWorks 2.0 monitor ink levels in both 220ml or 440ml cartridges and post a warning when levels run low. * Outdoor durability is based on accelerated weather tests. Results may vary depending upon location and application. Dry times vary depending on specific media characteristics. Lamination may be required for some applications or environmental conditions. White Eco-Sol Max Option Roland’s SOLJET PRO III XC-540 can be configured in five color CMYK+W featuring White ECO-SOL MAX ink for bold white ink applications on both coated and uncoated materials. The advanced ink comes in 220ml no-mess cartridges and is virtually odor free, making it easier than ever to print high quality white floods, highlights, text, graphics and gradations onto a variety of media options. The XC-540 has been engineered for flexible production and allows users to take advantage of five printing options: single-color White, four-color CMYK, and five-color CMYK+W, W+CMYK and CMYK+W+CMYK. When white ink printing is selected in VersaWorks, the printer outputs at 720x1440 dpi. In this mode, white ink graphics print at 3.6 sqm/hr. (high-quality W-Pass) and CMYK images print at 5.2 sqm./hr. (high-quality). For increased productivity, standard color (CMYK) applications can be printed at accelerated speeds of up to 28 sqm./hr. in high-speed 540x360 dpi mode. Precision Firing Pattern The XC-540 precisely controls droplet placement in both the print head travel and paper feed directions to provide up to 1440 x 1440 dpi resolution. It uses a digital servomotor to control the media and features Piezo print heads. Variable droplet technology uses micro-precise ink droplets of three different sizes depending on the type of output. This state-of-the-art technology delivers truly breathtaking output with beautifully smooth, dot-free tones even at high print speeds. When printing at higher speeds, many printers can produce only low density color with severely reduced image quality. Roland’s unique Precision Firing Pattern was designed to achieve the highest printing speeds possible while maintaining vibrant, high-density colors. To achieve this, the XC-540’s Precision Firing Pattern uses Light Ink Control, a powerful VersaWorks feature that reduces the impact of banding in bi-directional modes and of white banding caused by slight feeding errors. The feature raises ink density by increasing the ratio of Lc and Lm, resulting in smaller spaces between the landed dots. The XC-540 takes advantage of this advanced firing pattern for unparalleled image quality in every print mode. In addition, Roland’s in-line head configuration eliminates the need for lengthy calibration procedures and costly down time. To further ensure the highest print quality, VersaWorks supports industry standard ICC profiles. In addition, VersaWorks comes with several Roland media profiles and is compatible with profiles created through standard profiling packages. An updated list of profiles can be accessed through the Roland@NET service. Blazing Print Speed In addition to printing photorealistic graphics and fine art reproductions, the XC-540 can produce six-color 360 x 360 dpi signs, banners and POP displays at 41 sq m/hr (CMYKLcLm configuration). With one-inch-wide print heads that employ 360 nozzles each, the XC-540 prints large 30-sqft. banners in only minutes Advanced Media Handling A true production printer, the XC-540 features an upgraded media feed and take-up system accommodating rolls of up to 30 kg. for long, unattended printing. Seven permanent repositionable pinch rollers enhance image quality through even the longest print runs. In addition, the XC-540 features media guides, a vacuum platen and twin head heights to ensure correct media feed for thin or lighter media. Integrated Tri-Heater System The XC-540’s integrated tri-heater system dries prints quickly even in high-speed modes for immediate finishing, installation or collection by the take-up system. The system features three components: a pre-heater that improves media receptiveness, a print heater to accelerate ink fastness and brightness, and a dryer to accelerate the drying process and improve productivity, workability and scratch resistance. All can be controlled from either the printer panel or Roland VersaWorks. DU-540 Dryer System The DU-540 Heater/Blower is packaged with the XC-540 and offers users several advantages, including the ability to print highly saturated images at full speed while using the take-up rollers. Image transfer and sticking caused by rolling up wet images are elimated. For increased media feeding accuracy during print/cut operations, the DU-540 also enables users to take full advantage of all the XC-540 pinch rollers. . High Speed Network Connection Equipped with a new Roland-engineered 100 BASE-TX/10 BASE-T interface, the XC-540 connects seamlessly to office networks without additional software, achieving an increased data transmission rate of 100 Mb/sec. This makes it easy to configure a highly efficient printing environment.
