The ROLLSROLLER® Flatbed Applicator enables a single person to apply all types of self-adhesive vinyl, applicator film and protective laminate in just a few minutes. It gives you complete control over positioning and produces results that are free from bubbles and creases.

Remarkably easy to use it vastly reduces production time, removing the bottleneck many sign makers experience with finishing jobs – usually because they are still doing the job manually.

All of a sudden it’s the printer that can’t keep up, even though the applicator requires only one operator. It allows you to increase production without investing in new staff. You eliminate rejects and problems with creases and bubbles and get a better working environment, since it is also available in a height-adjustable version.

It is suitable for applying plotter text and digital printouts, applying onto curved signs, banners, flexible sign faces, acrylic plastic and panels. You can also use the machine on materials up to six centimetres thick.

Also new to iMedia is the range of Fotoba digital trimming machines. There are 6 styles of trimmer in the range and we took the opportunity to exhibit two of them recently at PacPrint where customers were amazed and delighted at the ease of use and time saving possibilities of these devices. Today we are highlighting the Digitrim range of cutters.

The Digitrim automatic cutters feature the ability to sense cut marks placed between multiple digital images printed or exposed simultaneously on paper or any digital media up to around 800gsm.

So how does it work?
The Digitrim senses and cuts parallel with the cut marks placed between images, even if you feed the media at an angle.

Regardless of any slight misalignment when the media is introduced to the Digitrim, the cutter will automatically re-align itself to the cut marks, ensuring perfect results every time.

Both Onyx and Versaworks (as well as other RIP softwares) come with inbuilt options to include Fotoba marks on your outputted prints, making these machines exceptionally easy to start using immediately upon install. The easy to use control panel on the machine allows you to set up the distance between the cuts to allow for bleed, or white borders on prints.

All that is required to be printed/exposed on the paper together with your images is a simple double line as shown above. Whether it is photographic, electrostatic, inkjet, offset, laser etc. the Digitrim will cut it perfectly square every time.

PacPrint was a terrific success for the extended iMedia team - including representatives from iMedia, Dalton, Budde International and RollsRoller - with many leads generated on the stand, and some great feedback on our latest ranges of products (featured above).

We flew our green flag at PacPrint, highlighting the environmentally friendly product ranges we have available across our hardware, media and ink ranges and it was fantastic to see so many customers considering ways they can print in a more environmentally conscious manner.

One of the products to garner the most reaction from an environmental perspective was our biodegradable banner material, BioFLEX. Made from corn starch it will completely break down in landfill conditions in under 5 years and customers were delighted to discover that printing banners doesn't have to be harmful to the environment - particularly those printing government work.

X-board was popular as always, with many exhibitors printing, cutting and assembling samples on the spot to the amazement of industry professionals and students alike.

The RollsRoller and Fotoba machines and the Rastek UV hybrid printer each drew small crowds continually over the 5 days with demos being performed almost constantly on these products. We printed and mounted on sheets of X-board, Corflute, Skybond and Perspex, showcasing the white print capabilities of the Rastek on coloured Skybond and clear Perspex.
